FYF

Every time I go to a music festival, I promise myself I will never go to another one-- and what do I do..... Go to another music festival. Last weekend, I went to FYF with my cousin and friends. FYF is short for FU** Yeah Fest and it is an annual three-day music festival held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena & Exposition Park in Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Sean Carlson in 2004 and is produced by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event showcases many genres of music, including rock, indie, electronic, as well as art installations and sculptures. The festival also has its own night market where people can buy food while watching the concerts. Throughout the whole park, four stages host live music. There is the Main Stage, the Lawn, the Arena, and the newest installment of the Woods. While there were hundreds of artist that performed I was most excited to see Missy Elliot, Frank Ocean, and Solange.

The 14th Factory is a monumental, multiple-media, socially engaged art and documentary experience conceived by the Hong Kong-based British artist Simon Birch. The exhibit is located in an abandoned wharehouse on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles. For the last few months I've seen several post about the exhibit and this weekend I finally had the opportunity to attend. The exhibit gave me Kanye West MBDTF, Frank Ocean Nostalgia Ultra, and Back to the Future vibes (See pictures below to see how I came up with those references).

The experience challenges the current political climate by celebrating creative diversity, unity and the act of overcoming obstacles and challenges as a global society through sculptures, paintings, and video. I definitely suggest it if you are in the LA area!

Parisian Street Photoshoot

If you know me, then you know I am extra 24/7, and my Paris trip was no exception. My visit was during mens fashion week, so you can imagine my excitement. While I didn't have a chance to attend any shows, I saw some great street fashion that inspired a small photo shoot in the middle of the street. In the shots below I am wearing a leather corset dress I bought from H&M in 2011, a white blouse also from H&M, a leather purse back pack from Ebay, the HH MimI wig from wigtypes.com for $20, and Gucci leather platform sneakers. Let me know if I nailed the look!

Paris Where We Been!

Earlier this year I played with the idea of visiting Paris, France however, I never committed any real energy into planning a trip. I was talking to my friend Laci one day and she mentioned she was visiting Paris and I completely dismissed the idea until a month prior to the trip. My scheduled cleared up though and I immediately called Laci and asked if I could tag along, and the rest is history *cues Ni#$as in Paris*. See all the details of my trip below.

1. Where I stayed: An Airbnb in the Gambetta/20th District area of Paris. The Airbnb had an amazing view of the Parisian Rooftop landscape and wasn't in a touristy area which allowed you to really emerge in the culture. The metro wasn't too far from the flat either so we were able to utilize that method of transportation. I won't put any further information about the Airbnb because we ran into some issue and I wouldn't recommend staying there to anyone.

2. Who I traveled with: As mentioned I traveled with my friend Laci. Laci and I flew and roomed together and we meet up with three other friends for activities; Mike, Darwin, and Johnny. Definitely some good souls to roam Paris with!

3. What I ate: I ate a lot of carbs, really good steak, croissants, salmon, pizza, and lasagna. Let me just say, the food in Paris is not only good but extremely healthy. The country does not use GMO and you can tell because the food is lighter and you don't feel sluggish after a good meal. We also found a soul food spot, you know for the culture. Also, I drank Rose with every meal, even the cheapest bottle of Rose is delicious!

4. What I did:

The Louvre

Eiffel Tower

Notre Dome

Palace Versailles
